# UPGRADE FROM COP V1.1 to V2.0 #
# #
########################################################################

Please read this file if you are already using V1.1 of the Carrier Operation
Package (file rcbco-11.zip).

1. Functional enhancements.

The enhancements in this new version can be split into three categories:

A: Added realism.
- You can now define/modify zones in which a Catapult Launch or Cable Arrest is valid.
In other words: if you are outside a Catapult or Arrester zone or your
aircraft doesnot have the correct heading, it will not be launched c.q. arrested.
However, the "old style" (without zone check) is still possible.
The zone definition is compatible with the original ArresterCables .dat file.
- A (optional) WaveOff procedure in the HUD, if your aircraft is not properly aligned
and/or configured for a landing.
- The Meatball HUD now operates based on the data of an Arrester zone, and no
longer requires an ILS.
- The HUD now has two modes of operation, which can be used independantly or together:
- The Meatball (as in V1.1, but using the defined zone data instead of ILS).
- Approach Needles, which gives you the required heading (and deviation) and
V/S (and deviation) from your current aircraft position/altitude towards
the selected Arrester zone (at any distance from the zone).
Simulates an embedded waypoint locator of a GPS.
The HUD now contains all aircraft/environment info you need for an Arrested landing,
and the approach to the Arrester zone. I also included a description on how to
use the HUD as a "mini-panel".
- A windspeed/direction readout.

B: Audible assistance.
A lot of sounds have been added, both to the Catapult system and Meatball HUD.
- A warning sound when the catapult is ARMed
- A countdown when the catapult is ARMed and automatic launch is configured.
- Many callouts in the Meatball HUD during approach; these sounds can be disabled
in the COP_Config.ini file, or by clicking a new "speaker" symbol on the HUD.

C: Configurability.
A lot of the existing and new functions are configurable via editable .ini
files, such as:
- Most new functions can be switched On/Off, like using sounds or not, using the
WaveOff procedure or not, using manual-lauch (brakes release) or auto-launch
(5 sec. after arming), etc. etc.
- Most parameters can be set according to your own preference.
Example: the sensitivity of the HUD Approach needles can be changed realtime,
via +/- buttons on the HUD.
- A new PositionDisplay gauge, which gives you the info needed to add your own
Catapult / Arrester zones accurately.

This new version includes Doug Dawson's new soundplaying gauge, which is much
more versitile and robust than the old one (uses DirectX directly instead of
gaugesound.dll, and no longer requires using the ADF-2 or gaugesound.dll).
For practice, I also included a land-based catapult/arrester area, on the TFFG
airport (St.Maarten). Nothing fancy, just some runway textures.

Notes:
- This new version ONLY works with FSUIPC 3.4 (registered or unregistered) or
higher (3.4.4.0 is included).
- The ACT switch on the catapult gauge is removed, and replaced with a gauge
that initiates a launch 5 sec. after you arm the catapult (optional).
As a result, the gauge bitmap is a little smaller, so you might want to
change the gauge size parameters in the panel.cfg to maintain correct width
/ heigth ratio.

See the new README for all details.

2. Installation.

Just install all files as indicated by the pathname in the zip file.
When asked, overwrite your current files with the new ones (except FSUIPC of
course, if you have a newer, or registered version).

Required changes in the panel.cfg (see also README "rcbco-20.txt), compared to
rcbco-11.zip:

Remove definition for gauge:
- Gauge dsd_xml_sound!dsd_xml_sound.
This gauge was used to play the SonicBoom sound.

Add definition for gauge:
- dsd_carrier_zones!dsd_carrier_zones
- rcb-miljet!CatLaunch
- COP_Config!config
- COP_Sound!dsd_xml_sound3
- dsd_carrier_zones!zone_selection

IMPORTANT: modify ALL panels that contain the COP V1.1 functions, because
this set of gauges is incompatible with the previous one.
This is especially true for the SonicBoom sound, since this now
uses the new XMLsound gauge.

Enjoy ...
